BT has launched a new competition designed to find the best small businesses in the UK. With top prize of £30,000 up for grabs, The GREAT Face of British Business competition is searching for the most innovative small and medium enterprises.
This contest is being championed by the government in a bid to show support for the growth of Britain’s SMEs.
Business Minister Matthew Hancock said he’s committed to fostering the ‘entrepreneurial spirit’ and making the UK the best place in the world to start and grow a company.
“Small businesses have been the driving force of our economic recovery,” he said.
“This is a top opportunity to celebrate the enormous contribution they make to villages, towns and cities across Great Britain.”
How will this competition for SMEs work?
There are three different categories to enter: best exporter, most innovative small business and best growth story.
Entrants must explain in 500-750 words what makes their businesses great, with a focus on any elements that are unique. A minimum of one photograph that ‘brings the business to life’ is also required.
During the initial stages, the top businesses across different regions will be shortlisted and entered into the national competition.
Out of these, one overall winner will be chosen. The exclusive £30,000 prize for the top spot is designed to help take a company to the next level. It includes a bespoke creative advertising campaign to be featured in national and local media, an iPad Air, unlimited BT Wi-Fi for 12 months and an export support package.
Are you interested in entering? To be eligible, businesses must be an SME based within the UK and have between one and 250 employees. The closing date for entry is December 15th 2014.
