At The Insurance Octopus, our staff are always keen to get on board with efforts to help to raise money for a good cause. This is the case right now as our Retentions Manager, Chris Williams, gears up for a special charity event, the Hiscox Yorkshire Challenge, taking place on 4th July.
As part of a team of 38 hiscox staff and their preferred brokers, Chris and his fellow cyclists will take on a test of physical and mental endurance – plus the unpredictable British summer weather! – by riding the route of stage one of the Tour De France; the equivalent of 190km (120 miles) between Leeds and Harrogate. The aim is to raise £25,000 in total for St. Ann’s Hospice, a Greater Manchester based charity offering to care for terminally ill patients.
Featured on the Hiscox website, here’s more about Chris’ passion for cycling and why he is taking part in this charity cycling challenge: “I’m an experienced cyclist who has spent the last 17 year riding both on and off road. I commute 23 miles every day and complete longer runs at the weekend. I’m really looking forward to the Hiscox Yorkshire Challenge and I’m currently dragging myself up the hills of south Manchester in preparation.”
Help Chris and his team hit the target!
Find out more about the riders, challenge, preparation and training over on the Hiscox website. Chris and the team have been training hard and would very much appreciate donations, however big or small. You can contribute to their charity efforts at the Hiscox Yorkshire Challenge JustGiving page, or donate to Chris’ personal charity page.
They still have a way to go to reach their target but every penny helps, so please help us and Hiscox to support a fantastic cause.
