How does insurance for tilers work?
Providing hassle free cover for a variety of trades people
As a professional tiler, a Business Insurance policy will help protect yourself and your business from risks associated with your trade. You may need a specific business insurance policy if you are a specialist tiler; for example if you work specifically in domestic or commercial building tiling or restoration work. Whatever your specialism we can help you save time and money on your Tilers Insurance policy and personalise your business insurance to your requirements.
At The Insurance Octopus, we source business insurance policies that are designed to be flexible, allowing you to be able to personalise your low cost tilers insurance to the exactly the way you want it. It will give you all of the essential cover you need in one simple business insurance policy.
What your Tilers Insurance policy includes
Public Liability cover for tilers
Public Liability insurance is included as standard. If one of your customers or a member of the public is injured, or their property is damaged because of your actions or inaction, Public Liability Insurance protects you against the cost of repairs or any legal proceedings that may be filed against you. Cover is available up to £5m; higher limits are available upon request.
Employers Liability cover
With cover available at a standard £10m.
Contract Works or Contractors All Risks cover
Contract Works or Contractors All Risks cover will insure your construction works plus materials, should they be damaged or the materials stolen prior to completion. The policy will also cover the additional labour costs to rebuild the work previously completed along with cover for your own or hired plant. For example, if you are completing an extension and it is damaged or destroyed by fire, you would have to complete the work again. Contract Works cover will provide the protection you need in this instance. Contract works insurance is available as a single one off policy or as a yearly policy.
Plant and Tools cover
Plant and Tools cover will protect the tools of your trade whilst working on site, such as in a construction or a building site.
In addition to our standard tradesman and contractors insurance package, if you are a specialist in a particular field of tiling you may need to amend your policy to be specific to your business. You can specify areas such as working up to 50 meters in height, having over 75% of your work using heat, or working deeper than the standard 2-3 meters.
Why you need Tilers Insurance
Your Business Insurance policy through The Insurance Octopus will include fundamental elements of insurance that a tradesman or contractor could need whilst working including liabilities, full tool and equipment cover. You can also add additional covers and we will look to help you tailor your Tilers Insurance policy to the needs of your business.
There are many risks associated with being in a trade specific occupation, and there are areas of risk that you may need to consider when looking for business insurance. Let The Insurance Octopus find cover for these risks with a bespoke Tilers Insurance package tailored to your specific and exact needs, and protect your business in the long run.

Tiler Insurance claim examples
Examples of Tilers Insurance in action
An injured employee and damaged Venetian floor
A tiler is hired to put up some expensive ceiling tiles in the lobby of a 5 star hotel. The entire area is cordoned off to customers but the hotel staff can still be frequently seen moving in and out of the area the tiler has already worked. Unfortunately disaster strikes; a tile slips off the scaffolding on which it has been placed by the tiler and hits a passing hotel employee on the head, causing significant trauma. The tiler in his shock then knocks more of the expensive tiles on to Venetian marble lobby below resulting in the whole floor needing to be replaced. The tiler is found to be liable for the accident and is sued for £250,000 in total. Thanks to his Public Liability insurance his legal defence and compensation costs are met.
